More on Thing One -- Plus a link to a fabulous Column on the Importance of Reading

I just learned how to add a link to my blog. Because this is my first experience blogging, I thought I'd spend a more little time learning how to "blog"; share important links; etc.  This has been another success thanks to 23 mobile things!!

Here is the link! It is to a column published in the New York Times. I believe Charles M. Blow did a convincing job of providing evidence that "reading books is fundamental".

More on Thing Two

On my Lucid 2, I have been having difficulty moving files, pictures and applications from my phone's memory to my micro SD card. It has 4GB internal memory and I was close to maxing that out. After learning how to take screenshots, I decided to do some more digging on how to manage my phone's memory. There was a how-to video on YouTube for that too! Who knew?  I was able to free up nearly ONE full GB of memory on my phone's direct memory. The how-to tutorial showing my exact phone, really assisted me in learning how to complete this process. I am still searching for a tutorial on how to cut and paste on my Lucid 2. Now that I am aware of the resources available, it will make my tasks much easier.

Thing Two -- Part Two

I actually found an extensive "how-to" guide online for my Lucid 2 smart phone! It even had videos as mentioned in the Thing Two section. Once I discovered the video on Quick Memo on my phone, I was able to take a screenshot within moments and post it to my blog. I am on Facebook. I have always wondered how many of my family and friends posted screenshots from online to their status.
Thanks to 23 Mobile Things, I can do it too.

Tomorrow, I will learn how to copy and paste on my phone. I had NO IDEA what my phone could do.

Look What I learned to do in Thing Two!!

THING 1

I have been looking forward to participating in the 23 Mobile Things program.  As the shift from desktop and laptop computers to mobile devices takes place, I find myself assisting more and more customers with their mobile devices. I see this program as an opportunity for me to learn more about this trend as well as the apps available for use.

I attended the 2012 MLA Conference in St. Paul. They had several opportunities for attendees to learn about various Apps as well as devices. I own a smartphone and a Kindle Fire. I have become quite good with my own devices, but realize my exposure and knowledge is limited compared to the wide range of options out there. I hope this program will broaden my personal use AND enable me to better serve the customers in my library.

Thing 1:  This is my first blog!  I follow several blogs and frequently comment on those, however have never created my own. I found it surprisingly easy to set up my blog. Since I am already a Google user, I chose Blogger. I had my blog set up within 5 minutes. I will go back now in the next day or two and change the options, but was amazed at how easy it was to get started. I look forward to Things 2-23!

Let the learning begin............
